“Songs of the Suffragists: Lyrics of American Feminism from 1850 to 2020” is the title of a brief documentary film that will be screened by the LVW of Northeast Westchester on Feb. 8.
The press release notes, "From the Civil War-era songs of Julia Ward Howe to Blues-era masterpieces by Bessie Smith to Bikini Kill’s grrl rock and Miranda Lambert’s country hits, the film highlights the intersection of culture and politics in our march toward gender equality in the United States.”
